ABOUT US

Club founders Jodie Cumner and Steve Jackson met on a trail run one day not long after Steve moved to the area and upon further runs discovered a mutual passion for helping fellow runners and that they were both living in a section of the Coast devoid of a running group. So in May 2018; Run Central was born to cater to runners in Carrara, Robina, Nerang, Benowa, Merrimac and surrounding suburbs.

Jodie, a well known and accomplished runner herself, is also the current leader for the famed Trail Chix, and has since attracted attention from Uber Shape and has taken up a paid position with the multi-faceted gym. She is unable to continue to coach with Run Central but still pops along for a run when she can fit it in her busy schedule and will always be a valued part of Run Central and 'central' (pun intended) to its history.

Life goes on for the club with multiple sessions and social events. The club will be looking at developing its membership and coaching base over 2019 to offer a fun, diverse and inclusive program for all ages and abilities. We encourage you to be come part of the Run Central family and contribute to its story.

STEVE JACKSON

I played any and every sport as a child, including Little Athletics. My tiny frame was no good for football yet lent itself to running longer distances. A supportive high school teacher fostered my love for the sport and the importance of sharing the joy of running. Whilst I still love knocking out a quality race, I get more joy from the company I keep, the friends I make and the athletes I can help through running.

With a university degree in sports science and sports management, I am currently indulging in work in sports events (having worked briefly at the Commonwealth Games), but I also have qualifications and experience as a coach and I'm hoping the combination of those skills will help foster a fun environment that allows members to flourish as athletes and as people.

I have a beautiful family with wife Ebony, two young daughters Harper and Ayla; and we're looking forward to making more friends and Central Gold Coast our home for years to come.
